scenes from the weekend.

ooh this weekend was a good one. the goodness began on friday. the kiddos had a half day & the teachers were all pleasantly surprise when the announcement was made that we were dismissed as well. happy (one week late) teacher appreciation! a group of us gathered on a patio to take in the gorgeous weather and enjoy some snacks. talk about starting the weekend off right.  saturday called for an afternoon walk to the market, breakfast for lunch with the market finds, and an impromptu cookout with the family. & sunday was sunday funday with friends.  we've talked about going to greenfield village together for quite some time. well, sunday it happened. we wandered the village & learned some history. & our weekend was topped off with more outdoor dining on the patio at mercury bar.
oh summer. I can already tell you are going to be a great one. I can just feel it.

urban put-put

last week we met up with my sister and her sweet family for sunday funday, detroit style. we enjoyed dinner on the patio at mercury bar in corktown. then we walked over for some urban put-put (not putt-putt for the sake of trademark.) seriously, coolest putt-putt ever! it was so rugged & creative. so...urban. & you just can't beat that view of the train station in the backdrop. & an added bonus, the game was free. both the adults & kiddos loved it.  we'll most definitely be back for more.

wandering wayne state.

last weekend, the hubs and I took a little wandering tour of wayne state university in detroit. the reflection pool (designed by Minoru Yamasaki, who also designed the world trade center twin towers) was recently restored and filled for the first time in years so we were anxious to check it out. (you know, check out where all that tuition money has been going.) I've been walking through this campus (at least) once a week for the past couple years for my graduate classes, but to be honest, I have never really paid close attention to the beauty that surrounded me. let's be real, my classes fall in the evenings after I have been on my toes with twenty eight year olds for the eight hours prior and I'm headed to a three hour class. cool buildings are the last thing I care to pay attention to. but on a beautiful sunday afternoon, with my husband by my side and a camera in my hands, I surely saw this place in a whole new perspective.

friday's letters.

dear blog,
I neglected you this week. big time.
life got in the way & I just wanted to hang with my husband,
take walks around the neighborhood, have a sushi date
 and watch our shows together.
maybe the inspiration will strike again soon.
I have some fun adventures to share.

dear husband,
you're awesome.

dear girl friends,
you guys are my favorites.
tacos, beverages & cards against humanity was such a fun night last weekend.
& finding out one of our gals will be welcoming a sweet little girl
in a couple months is just too exciting.

dear coworkers,
happy hour was a perfect end to the week today.
we must do it again soon.
#teacherappreciation

dear mom-in-law & sister-in-law,
I'm super excited for our girls (and nephew) day of shopping tomorrow!
it may just be window shopping for me but I'm still really excited!
