what I wore

jeans: old navy / top: forever 21 / blazer: charlotte russe / shoes: target / necklace: handmade by me

over the weekend I went out for dinner & drinks to celebrate my best friend's 30th birthday.  we met freshman year of high school - fifteen years ago (are we really that old?) our friendship began in our high school pool - she was a swimmer & I was a diver, meaning we spent hours upon hours of our high school days water logged & chlorine soaked together. our friendship continued into college where we found ourselves as roommates, sharing a house full of girls & figuring out who we were. now here we are, both married & turning 30 (yikes!) It's pretty crazy to think that we've celebrated more birthdays together than apart. I could not imagine it any other way. so here's to 30 years emily - I love you to pieces!

    1. a tripod & lots of natural sunlight shining through the windows. for these I stuck a piece of painter's tape on the wall to get the camera to focus before setting the self timer and running in front of it - I really need to get a remote. :)

  5. Classic black and white always works, and it sounds like you had a great time with your friend :) ANd I second L.M.A.'s comment. There is exactly one spot in my apartment where I can get clear photos — smack dab in the middle of my living room. Gets boring after a while in that same spot.

    1. yep, we have windows on two walls in our living room - this corner is across from them both - perfect for indoor shots on sunny (but cold) afternoon.

  7. What a simple yet feminine and cute outfit. Love those shoes, seems like the way to go if your looking for a heel but to be comfortable at the same time.

    1. these wedges are definitely my go to heel. they are the only heels I can wear all night. I usually just stick to flats.

  8. This outfit is adorable. Sometimes I get really overwhelmed by all of the colors (does that sound weird?) so a crisp and fresh outfit is refreshing.

    1. I know exactly what you mean, I love color but sometimes you just need to go black & white.
